GABRIEL FIGUEREDO BIO... and the Origins of MEEK IMMORTALS™

*Alvaro Gabriel Figueredo was born on October 15th, 1974 in Ottawa, Ontario, Canada.

*I grew up in the cities of Hamilton and Ancaster in Ontario, Canada.

*My parents are Uruguayan-Canadian and have been married for more than 50 years.

*I have 2 older sisters and 1 younger brother… and we are all artistically inclined.

*In the early 1980s, my music interests included:  Christmas songs, Cartoon Theme songs, and the Mini Pops.

*I took classical guitar lessons for a few years in the 1980s, but never learned chords, only songs like "Greensleeves."

*From the mid-1980s to the early 1990s, my music preferences would evolve to include: The Cure, The Clash, Enya, Bon Jovi, and Maestro Fresh-Wes.

*The first concert I ever attended was in 1991 to see "Bell Biv DeVoe" and "Boyz II Men."

*From 1993 to 1998, I went away to the University of Toronto, and my music tastes evolved again to include such diverse artists like: Tool, Rage Against The Machine, Hayden, Soundgarden, Kyuss, Cypress Hill, The Tea Party, Smashing Pumpkins, Ministry, Helmet, The Prodigy, Korn, and Mundane.

*In 1998, I graduated from university and I knew that I did not want to be a doctor or a lawyer… so, I decided to become a Music Artist.

*The beginnings of my Music Artist journey were inspired by 2 specific things: the exquisite 1996 CD "AEnima" by Tool, and watching the epic T.V. show "Northern Exposure."

*In the late 1990s, I continued to explore other music including:  Autechre, Melvins, Edwin, Vertical Creep, and Cat Power.

*I have always been interested and fascinated by the concept of immortality… mainly, my Christian belief about everlasting life and resurrection, and, also, the Buddhist idea of karma and reincarnation.

*Moreover, my interest in "immortals" is evidenced in my favourite movies: "Clash of the Titans" and "Highlander."

*My music band name of "MEEK IMMORTALS™" was derived from the play on words of the expression "mere mortals."

*The "M.I." initials and logos, that I designed, were inspired by the title word "MIX" of my mixtape collection, and from my affinity for the "San Francisco 49ers" football team.

*The genre of music of  "MEEK IMMORTALS™" is "electronic rock."

*The style of music of  "MEEK IMMORTALS™" is "Original Hypnotic Music."

*The rest, like they say, is history.
